Work in Spanish

As a student of Spanish, I wrote many papers and gave many lengthy presentations completely in Spanish. I spent the month of June 2022 in Sevilla, Spain, where I studied the history of Spain, lived with a host family, and explored historical ruins and sites in an effort to connect with authentic Spanish culture and enhance my comprehension of the Spanish language.

I believe it is so important to speak more than one language, not only as a professional communicator but to give yourself a chance to connect with more people and gain other perspectives and a broader view of the world.

In my projects, I learned more about topics that interest me and developed my skills as a speaker, listener, and writer of the Spanish language. Here you can view samples of my work in Spanish.

My senior capstone was an in depth analysis of modern domestic abuse in Spain, the portrayal of abuse in the film Te doy mis ojos, the effect of abuse on screen, and the connections between the film and reality.

For a translation course I took, I chose to complete a project involving the translation of a section of the NFL Handbook into Spanish, and the translation of a Spanish article about the relevancy of the NFL in Mexico into English.

For my translation course, I watched a documentary about the figure Malintzin, a native translator for the Aztec empire. I transcribed portions of the documentary and translated them into English to reach a wider audience.
