This is a feature story I wrote for a class assignment in a news writing course I took. It details the events of a student from the University of Minnesota who spent a semester of school in Hawaii to learn about Hawaiian culture authentically.

An athlete on the Saint Mary’s University women’s tennis team was awarded Athlete of the Week for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in their sophomore year, an impressive feat for such a young student athlete.

Saint Mary’s launched the Makerspace in 2021, a place to let creativity soar. Students can learn woodworking, sewing, 3D printing, welding and more. If you can think it, you can make it. The Makerspace provides the necessary resources to turn ideas into reality.

This is the very first feature story of mine to be formally published, about how the Saint Mary's concert band found ways to make music during the pandemic. I'm proud of my efforts and look to this story to see how I've grown as a writer.
